Organizational History
Project Literacy owes its existence to a group of dedicated women who formed the Danville Reading Center in the mid-1960's. Among these women was Nancy Jiranek, who served as the Center's Executive Director until 1986 when she became the sole organizer and facilitator for Project Literacy.
For nearly 40 years, Project Literacy has helped many hundreds of Danville area adults learn to read or improve their literacy skills.
